BES - How do I close an alert by AlertID from an SSH session to BES?

Last Updated: Nov 07, 2014 11:37AM UTC
If you are unable to access the BSD AlertView and need to close a particular alert by AlertID, you can perform the following from an SSH session to the BES server:

1. As ppadmin, cd $PPHOME/bin
2. Run the following command (replacing xxxxx with the AlertId you want to close):

CloseAlerts -alertId xxxxxx

You will be prompted to confirm the closure: 'Validate Close of alerts based on all Message Channels - Reply Y/N', just reply with a 'Y' and the alert will then be closed.

Note: The alertId passed to the CloseAlerts script must be the full AlertID i.e. inclusive of any 0 padding. For example, if the full alertId =
0000027784, the command to close the alert is: CloseAlerts -alertId 0000027784. If you run the command without the preceding 0's (CloseAlerts -alertId 27784), the alert will not be closed.
