BES - What is the Sorted_Hash file?

Last Updated: Dec 01, 2015 01:19PM UTC
When a Rules_File is applied using the RuleApply or RuleApplyAll utility, or via a Test/Apply in SMARTView, a corresponding runtime Sorted_Hash file is created, which is used by the POWERpack Transformer. For every message channel with a SMARTView rule applied, a Sorted_Hash file is created and stored under $PPHOME/SMARTView/Live/<MC_Name>/

SMARTView rules are assigned a value based on the keys defined within the rules. Essentially, the more specific the keys the higher the value. The rules are then sorted by this value into the Sorted_Hash file, which is used by the POWERpackTrans.

The more specific the keys used to identify the alerts the higher the rule in the checking process. TK* and use of 'or' logic make the keys less specific. By identifying particular words as opposed to a string of text appearing anywhere the keys are more specific. 'and' logic will also make them even more specific.
