Selector and group

Paul Wheeler Jun 09, 2015 01:10PM UTC

We currenlty have a User AO called "SCOM Knowledge". This AO is configured for Match Selector "All_SCOM_Alerts".

The Selector "All_SCOM_Alerts" matches on the current SCOM Message channel.

We have introduced another SCOM message channel. Meaning that the selector needs to be changed. I've changed this for the All_SCOM_Alerts selector for the current group i'm logged in under.

Now i need to apply the changes to this selector accross multiple groups on the development BES server. I can see the files here : /opt/ISS/POWERpack/eScape/htdocs/ppwc/applets/group.

Then i need to apply the selector change to multiple groups on the Test BES environment, then the production environment.

Please advise of the best way to do this

Hi Paul,

We've never done this before. But you could possibly try this....

Navigate to /opt/ISS/POWERpack/eScape/htdocs/ppwc/applets/group
There is a [GROUPNAME]_DotNet_directory for each group.
Within this file is a list of all selectors available for that group.
The selectors are in the same directory and are all [GROUPNAME]_DotNet_[SELECTOR]

So in theory you could just copy all [GROUPNAME]* files from one system to the other.
I think you would then need to recycle a few things like the BSD and AlertServer - so maybe after copying and ensuring file ownershipd/permissions are all OK you would be better advised to recycle BES.

As I say we've never done this before so not 100% sure if this will work or if I have missed anything but worth a shot.

Hope this helps.

Hello Colin,

Would it be possible for your guys to test this and provide a supported answer?

I'm not sure we should be just trying things like this without understanding any implications of knock on effects
