Arunamshu Udayakumar Mar 17, 2015 07:13AM UTC

How do we unlock a dashboard? I'm unable to view wizard properties of a dashboard. Can anybody help me out with this?

Hi Arunamshu,

Does the user you are logged into ASI as have edit permission on the dashboard? If you are unable to open the dashboard in edit mode, or unable to open the dashboard properties, then the user you are logged in as does not have the appropriate editor permission which is set on the dashboard.

Users and dashboards can be assigned to various different roles which determine the access level a user has. Dashboard's can be assigned to editor roles, which determine the users who can edit the dashboard. The two default editor roles are 'DashboardEditor' and 'DashboardEditorLevel2'. These roles can be assigned to a dashboard on creation, or by modifying the dashboard properties.

Setting a dashboard's editor role to 'DashboardEditor' only permits users with a DashboardEditor user role to edit the dashboard.

I hope this helps. We have online documentation which details all of the roles available in ASI: https://netnow.jira.com/wiki/display/PUBP/User+Roles+and+Responsibilities

Regards,
Matthew

Hi Matt,

I have checked in the edit settings option of dashboard. It says locked by 'ppadmin' and I have logged in as 'ppadmin'.

In Access Control tab i can see

View access roles:

LevelOneDashboard
LevelTwoDashboard

Editor roles:

DashboardEditor
DashboardEditorLevel2

The problem is I cannot find 'data selection wizard' button on any of the widgets in the dashboard even after checking USE WIZARD option.

Hi Arunamshu,

The data selection wizard does not launch for every single widget, only graphs and charts e.g. line graph, angular gauge. It does not launch for dynamic text boxes, tables or more complex widgets like multi-level pie charts or drag node charts.

Matt
